What were the benefits reaped by the East India company as the Diwan of Bengal?

The East India Company was appointed as the Diwan of Bengal by the Mughal emperor on 12 August 1765. The benefits reaped by the East India Company as the Diwan of Bengal were as follows:

• The company had become the financial administrator of the territories which were owned by them.

• The company has to decide how to administer the land and the organisation of the revenue system of the territories.

• They fixed revenue in such a way that it would meet the expenses of the company.

• It also gave them the power to decide what products should be purchased and sold.
