I have Rs. 50 with me. I spent 12% of the sum of Rs. 50 to purchase a pen. Let’s work out the amount I spent for purchasing the pen.

In the question, it is said that the person spent 12% of the amount he/she possessed i.e.; Rs 50 on the pen.
