Q6 of 10 Page 354

Mention the function of ‘Gram Sabha’.

The Gram Sabha is a unit of the Panchayati Raj system in India, which stands for the rural local government – one of the two forms of local government bodies present in India besides the municipalities/corporations.

The Gram Sabha supervises the functioning of the Panchayats. All the voters in the village are members of the Gram Sabha. The Gram Sabha has to meet at least twice or thrice in a year to perform various important functions like approval of the annual budget put forward by the gram panchayat, and to monitor the performance of the gram panchayat at regular intervals.
