True picture of democracy is not achieved in caste politics. Political parties mostly nominate candidates keeping in mind about caste composition and hence the proper representation of the election scenario is not possible. Forming a government based on caste politics is a biased approach and can disrupt social harmony in society. Exclusive attention to caste can produce negative results as well. As in the case of religion, politics based on caste identity alone is not very healthy in a democracy. It can divert attention from other pressing issues like poverty, development and corruption. In many instances caste politics leads to tensions, conflict and violence. Such attempts at forced integration often sow the seeds of disintegration. A true sense of equality and the promotion of human rights would be a distant dream for the constitution-makers of India.
