What sustains democracy in India?

Democracy stress change in the following manner:

a. The constitution of India has ensured the fundamental rights of every citizen of the country. It has also defined the responsibility and accountability of the government.


b. The ministers of the cabinet together formulate various programs and policies. They are duly accountable to the citizens for the working of the government.


c. The election commission of India is a body that ensures that elections are held in a free and fair manner at regular intervals.


d. The Supreme Court of India is one of the important pillars of democracy. It gives validity to the constitution and acts as a guardian of the same.


e. The freedom of expression to press and electronic media has ensured that the government is accountable to the public for any mistakes. It also creates awareness regarding the working of the government to the public.
