Service sector is increasing both in terms of its share in GDP and providing employment. In the case of GDP, the contribution of the service sector 54 percent compared to 30 percent in 1950 and 42 percent in 1990. Share of this sector is increasing as the government is providing more and more services to the people, with the growth of the primary and secondary sector, service sector also increases as it provides support of both sector, like transport , banking facilities increase. With time with an increase in people income, a new type of services are also becoming popular, like dining out, professional training, internet etc., as people are demanding better services and ready to pay for them.

Contribution of the services sector is also increasing in employment as farmer sand farm labour is migrating in cities for better job opportunities in cities and finding job opportunities in both the manufacturing and service sector.
