Simple Marriages

Indian marriages are no less than festivals. They are celebrated according to various religious and personal preferences. But most of them are celebrated with expensive decorations, music, dance, food and costumes. During the season of marriages it is seen that people spend a lot of money only to satisfy their ego. All the money thus wasted can be put to some constructive use.

Around 10 million weddings take place in India every year. Just imagine the amount of money that is spent on an average every year in these marriage arrangements. The focus of the marriage has shifted from the rituals to a show off business. In the present scenario, when dowry still remains a major problem in India, people use a lot of their life’s savings in the unnecessary arrangements and decorations which are just a one day affair. They think by making extravagant arrangements they would create an impression on their friends and relatives and will be remembered for a longer period of time. People also try to imitate the others in which social media plays a major role as it influences people’s mind very easily. It is very important to bring people out of this rat race and teach them the concept of simple marriage. A simple marriage can be made equally memorable as an extravagant one. People need to realise that it is the presence of people that makes a wedding grand and not the decorations or food. Marriages should be kept simple by keeping limited cuisines, simple decorations and limited expenditure of clothes and jewellery. The money that will be saved from a simple wedding can be put to many other constructive uses like savings in bank account, deposited as fixed deposits to be used for health care etc.

People need to realise that it is the presence of people that makes a wedding grand and not the decorations or food. The concept of a ‘grand’ wedding is not bad but the amount of money that goes in behind one occasion is unnecessary.

Inter-school Cricket match

Our school had organised an inter-school cricket match on the 20th of July between ACE Public School and DFG Public School, Lampur. The match took place in A.S.R Stadium where both the teams were supposed to report at 8:00 AM. The registration started at 9:00 AM.

The chief guest for this event was a well known cricket coach Mr. S. Satyam. The event started with a few motivational words from Mr. Satyam followed by his felicitation by our Honourable Principal. Both the teams were eagerly waiting to play the 10 over match and take home the champion’s trophy. The two school teams had their own team names – ACE Cheetahs and DFG Tigers. DFG Tigers opted to bat first as they won the toss. The match started at 10:00 AM sharp. The first innings went good and DFG Tigers scored 120 runs. Our target was set at 121 runs. Our school cricket coach came to cheer us and advised us not to play under any pressure. We started with a good run rate but gradually in the 6th over we lost 2 wickets while we had already lost 3 wickets in the first 5 over. The pressure was mounting on us as the best batsmen were out and the others were also equally good but lacked confidence. They went ahead and played very well. Our youngest team member made us proud by hitting a six on the last ball. It was a moment of great glory and pride. The entire stadium was cheering for us. We won the match with 4 wickets but what made us happier was that we had all heroes in our team.

The winning of our team was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. The champion’s trophy came home. Sourav, the one who hit the six and made us proud was awarded the player of the match. The match was a thrilling experience for the players as well as the audience.
