Positively in the following ways:


a. The availability of soil moisture for a long period of time, afforestation and pasture development programs under CAD has led to an increase in the greenery of the area.


b. It has helped to reduce the wind erosion and siltation of canal.


c. Canal irrigation has transformed the agricultural economy of the area because it has led to an increase in the intensity of cropping and the cultivated areas. The traditional crops of Bajra and Jowar has been replaced by wheat and cotton.
