What are garrisson towns?

Garrison towns represent those towns whose formation results from the setting up of a military base. They are also regarded as cantonment towns. Mhow, Ambala, etc. can be considered as garrison towns. The major operation of such towns is to cater to the requirements of defence as well as persons employed in defence services of the country. These are particularly designed for the purpose navy, airforce or military activities.
