Explain the characteristics of mineral resources in India.

A mineral is a naturally occurring substance that has various chemical and physical properties. It has the following characteristics:

a. They are unevenly distributed over space.

b. There is an inverse relationship between the quality and quantity of minerals. The good quality minerals are lesser in quantity and vice versa.

c. They are exhaustible over time. It takes a long time to develop geologically and cannot be replenished immediately.
