The uneven distribution of mineral and energy resources in India is explained below:

● Most of the metallic mineral in India is available in the peninsular plateau region in the old crystalline rocks.


● 97% of coal reserves are found in Damodar, Sone, Mahanadi and Godavari river.


● Petroleum reserves are located in the sedimentary basins of Assam, Gujarat and Mumbai High.


● New reserves are also found in Krishna Godavari and Kaveri basin.


● Most of the major mineral resources occurred to the east of a line linking Mangaluru and Kanpur.
