What is regional planning?

The various areas in India are not uniformly developed. Some areas are highly developed, whereas some others are extremely under-developed. To reduce this regional imbalance or disparities in the development among the regions, the planners have to take a spatial perspective towards planning and formulate such plans which can help to reduce the regional disparities. This type of planning which is mainly formulated to eradicate the problem of regional imbalances is known as regional planning.
