Why are ports called ‘gateways of international trade’? Explain any three reasons.

Ports are known as gateways of international trade for the following reasons:-

• The sea-ports have a very important role as international gateways.

• They provide the facilities of loading, unloading, docking of cargo and other bulk products.

• They help in trade and commerce, and the economy gets significantly improved by trade. The importance of port is judged by the quality of cargo and the number of ships it can handle.
