What is the meaning of ‘Begar’?

The system of forced labor, found in different parts of India is generally referred as ‘Begar’. These are the laborers who work for a very low wage, in poor working conditions and they are often treated very badly. Generally the laborers who work in road construction sites or work as sweepers in municipality areas are these type of laborers.
