Explain the meaning of democracy.

Democracy refers to a form of government which is directly elected by the people of a country i.e. the people play the important role of electing their representatives who run the government at various levels.

NOTE – In a Democracy, the government represents the will and aspirations of the people because it is the people who elect their government.
