In an elevator accelerating upward


The first equation describes the pressure acting on a point (area tends to zero). Thus it is valid even in all frames as the excess acceleration is taken care if by the force term. The second equation is invalid as the acceleration if a body in an elevator accelerating upwards is not “g” but “a+g” where “a” is the upwards acceleration of the elevator.
