Q6 of 189 Page 508

The outer diameter of a spherical shell is 12 cm and its inner diameter is 8 cm. Find the volume of metal contained in the shell. Also, find its outer surface area.

Given,

Outer Diameter of spherical shell = 12cm

Radius of the outer sphere r1 = 6cm

Inner diameter of spherical shell = 8cm

Radius of the inner sphere r2 = 4cm

Volume of metal = outer volume – inner volume

=

= 636.95cm3

Surface area of outer surface = 4πr2

=

= 452.571cm2
