(i) Sulphur dioxide


Explanation: When Sulphur dioxide comes in contact with moisture in the atmosphere, it leads to the formation of sulphuric acid. This is extremely corrosive in nature.


(ii) The two chemicals that lead to the formation of ozone holes are:


1. Bromochlorodifluoromethane


2. Chlorofluoromethane


Explanation: These chemicals, on reaching the stratosphere, release free halogen radicals. The atoms initiate the process of breakdown of ozone into oxygen.


(iii) Mercury caused the Minamata disease that occurs due to the mercury poisoning. It leads to neurological disorders.
