Which State is the largest producer of manganese in India? Mention any two uses of manganese.

1. Odisha is the largest producer of manganese in India, accounting for one-third of the country’s total production in 2000-01.

2. Manganese is majorly used in the manufacturing of steel and ferro-manganese alloy, with nearly 10kgs of manganese used in manufacturing one tonne of steel.


3. It is also used in the production of bleaching powder, insecticides and paints.
