Write a brief character sketch of Mrs van Daan.

Mrs van Daan was a vain and selfish lady always complaining about Anne and ready to find her faults at the drop of a hat. Mrs van Daan is the wife of Otto Frank’s business partner. They have a son called Peter who later falls in love with Anne. Mrs van Daan doesn’t only argue with her husband but is also argumentative with Mrs Frank. She even questions Anne’s upbringing and parenting. Mrs van Daan had a liking and weakness for Mr Frank which Anne did not like. Mrs van Daan would pick up a quarrel over very small issues and never ever shared her things with the other people at the annexe. She never hesitated to stoop down to a child’s level and create a scene to show her unpleasant nature. She always picked the best things at the dinning table without caring for others. Over all Mrs van Daan’s character was of a complex one
