On adding NaOH to ammonium sulphate, a colourless gas with pungent odour is evolved which forms a blue coloured complex with Identify the gas.

The reaction of ammonium salts with a base result in the formation of ammonia as a product and hence on adding NaOH to ammonium sulphate, ammonia gas is released. Ammonia when reacted with Cu2+ forms a blue coloured complex. Ammonia donates its lone pair of electrons by acting as a Lewis Base while Cu2+ accepts the lone pair of electrons, being an electrophile.
