The difference of two natural numbers is 72. If we get 4 of dividing the bigger by the smaller number, find the numbers.

Let the smaller number be x

Since the difference of two numbers is 72,


⇒ The larger number is (x + 72)


According to the question, it is given that,



On cross multiplying, we get,


⇒ x + 72 = 4x


⇒ 3x = 72


⇒ x = 24


The other number is = x + 72 = 96


∴The two numbers are 24, 96
