Q10 of 59 Page 38

Find the product:

(p + 2) (p – 2)(p2 + 4)

First solving (p+2) (p–2)

Using the identity (a +b) (a–b) = a2 – b2

Here a = p and b = 2

= p2 – 22

= p2 – 4

Now solving (p2 + 4) (p2 – 4)

Again Using the identity (a +b) (a–b) = a2 – b2

Here a = p2 and b = 4

= (p2)2 – 42

= p4 – 16 ( (ax)m = a xm)
