A dealer allows a discount of 20% and still gains 20%. Find the marked price of an article which costs the dealer ₹ 720.

Given: Discount % = 20%, Gain% = 20%, CP = ₹720




⇒ Gain =₹ 144


SP = CP + Gain


⇒ SP = 720 + 144 = ₹864

⇒ MP = 5 × Discount


Also, Discount = MP – SP


⇒ MP – Discount = SP


⇒ 5 × Discount - Discount = ₹ 864


⇒ 4 × Discount = ₹ 864


⇒ Discount = ₹ 216


MP = 5 × Discount = 5 × 216 = ₹1080
