Q3 of 11 Page 134

Answer the following question.

Which types of stars end their life as a neutron star?

The stars having their masses between 8 and 25 times the mass of Sun () undergo an evolution that leads to the ends stage of a neutron star.

These star go through the Red Giant Stage and then through a Supergiant Stage. In the end a very powerful explosion called the supernova explosion occurs. After the explosion a central position is left that contracts to about 10 km. This is the neutron star state. The star is completely made up of neutrons. The neutron exert a neutron pressure that is independent of temperature and balances the gravitational force. The end stage is the stable stage called the neutron star.
