500 persons took a dip in a rectangular tank which is 80m long and 50m broad. What is the rise in the level of water in the tank if the average displacement of water by a person is 0.04m3.

As we know that the volume of the water displaced is equal to the volume of the person.

∴ Volume of person = volume of water displaced = 0.04 m3

Area of the tank = 80 × 50 =4000 m2
