In spite of having a vast social diversity what keeps the people of India united?

In spite of having a vast social diversity, the people of India are not just connected by borders but also with sentiments and sense of belongingness to their country.

1. In 1947 when India got independence, the leaders of the country realised that there were too many subdivisions in a society that caused a lot of equalities. So they decided to work on it.


2. The government decided with a uniform set of rules and instructions called the Constitution, which was mainly written by Dr. B R Ambedkar.


3. This Constitution was made keeping in mind the various communities across the country, their practices and their problems.


4. This Constitution was made as neutral as possible keeping all communities at an equal level. This was keeping in mind that every community felt that they had equal rights and opportunities in the country.


5. Untouchability was also made a crime.


6. India also became a secular country.
