How is Zila Parishad formed?

Zila Parishad is an elected body and is the third tier of the Panchayati Raj system.


• It is the top-most tier of the Panchayati Raj system and represents an entire district.


• Members serve for four to five years.


The members of the State Legislature and the members of the Parliament of India are members of the Zila Parishad.


• Depending on the structure of the Council, the members serve for four to five years.
