How has gender division shaped politics?

Gender division that is redefining the areas of work as per gender. Since early days women were treated inferior to men and were made to do only household chores. This deterred them from entering in other fields to work.

The gender division could also be seen in politics.

The proportion of representation of women in the legislature has been very low in India. In 2009 the elected women member in the Lok Sabha was 10% of the total strength.

In state assemblies, their proportion was less than 5%.
