In Figure 7, find the area of the shaded region, if ABCD is a square of side 14 cm and APD and BPC are semicircles.

Given;


A square ABCD with the side 14 cm


Side (diameter) = 14 cm


∴Radius, r = 7 cm


Area of the shaded region = area of the Square – 2area of the semi-circle




= 196 – 154 = 42 cm2
