The three major iron-ore belts of India:

1. Orissa-Jharkhand Belt

2. Durg-Bastar-Chandrapur Belt

3. Bellary-Chitradurga-Chikmaglur-Tumkur Belt

The three features of the southernmost belt, Bellary-Chitradurga-Chikmaglur-Tumkur Belt:

1. The Kudremukh mines situated in the Western Ghats of Karnataka are 100% export unit.

2. It has one of the largest iron-ore deposits in the world.

3. The ore is transported as a slurry to a port near Mangalore through a pipeline.

Note :

India has abundant iron-ore deposits. Karnataka has the largest iron production in India. Apart from the above mentioned two, Maharashtra-Goa is also a major iron-ore belt in India.
