Q2 of 16 Page 92

Read this stanza from the song Fall of a Hero

My pride is pulled down,

It's a good cause for a laugh

Look deep inside my soul with pain,

Witness the fall of a hero

I lived the fall, and I tasted all Witness the fall of a hero Don't wanna live anymore

Ø Do we create superheroes and topple them?

Ø Do we also become insensitive to their feelings?

Discuss in groups and share your views with the class.

Superheroes are known for their attributes which common people generally do not possess. Their special traits make them stand exceptional, which of course is admired by all. But in the course of this admiration, we place them at such high pedestal that even a little shift hurts.

Nothing is permanent, and so is their position. We keep on receiving fresh talents and forget the previous ones. Their skills remain, but we de-throne them because of we handover that position to someone else. This creates a sense of insecurity in them, which we fail to recognize. We do become insensitive to their feelings and expel them from their cherished state. This does no good for such people because once gone up, its difficult for anyone to come down. We fail to understand their disposition and cause unintended harm. They sometimes even face serious mental troubles due to this too. Even a little failure in their performance is mocked and criticized, but we forget that they are humans too, and humans do make mistakes.

Humankind is blessed with the quality of empathy, and its time we put that to use so that we understand people more, and instead of becoming a reason for their downfall, be a motivator and inspire them to do well. Because every superhero works for the people, so it's our duty to take care of their emotions too.
