Answer: The walls are ‘sour cream’ colored signifying that it is damp, rotting and peeling off. It gives an image of a wall which has not been tended to.


b) What are the two things that show a civilized race?


Answer: The picture of Shakespeare and the dome signify a civilized race.


c) What is the specialty of the Tyrolese valley?


Answer: The Tyrolese valley is flooded with colorful flowers and have bells that resound over it.


d) Explain: “Awarding the world its world”


Answer : This means that the map on the wall acts as a window to show these poor children a glimpse into the world out there. It shows the world of these children that there is a world much different than theirs.

b) ‘The mighty dead’ refers to the great men and women who have passed away after their great deed are done. They include our ancestors, all the great kings and Queens, and all the renowned people in their respective fields.

d) Imagery is used in third line of stanza where the earth is imagined to be an endless fountain with all its endless resources providing for one and all.
