If the binary operation * on the set Z of integers is defined by a * b = a + 3b2, find the value of 2 * 4.

The given binary operation is a*b = a + 3

We have to find the value of 2*4


Applying the relation, we have


2*4 = 2 + 3() = 2 + 3(16) = 2 + 48 = 50.


Thus, the required solution is 50.
