Why did the people of Nepal want a new Constitution?

Nepal needs a new constitution due to the following reasons:

1. Executive power according to the 1990 Constitution was arrested in the king.

2. However, according to the constitution of 2007 (interim) the executive, lies in the hands of the Council of Ministers.

3. This has made Nepal switch from a system of the monarchy to a system of democracy.

4. The older constitution which implies the power vested in a king is no longer applicable now

5. A new constitution is required to reflect the democratic ideals of the people.

6. It is necessary that all the principles of the Constitution are changed and the government takes dedicated and serious effort for the smooth and easy transition from the monarchy to the democracy

7. The executive powers must be vested in the Council of Ministers who will be elected by the people.

8. The previous constitution did not reflect the true ideas of the citizens of Nepal.
