KABIR-


Early life: Kabir was a saint who lived in north India. His period was 1440-1510 C.E. He was born in a weaving family known as JULAS. He was a student of Ramanand. He spent most of his time in Varanasi.


Teachings of Kabir: He rejected caste system and multiple idol worship. He declared god is one and same for Hindus and Muslims. He brought harmony among these two communities. He composed couplets known dohas. Hindus and Muslims recite these dohas even today. He preached the greatness of humourness. ‘Kabirpanthis’, the name of the people who followed Kabir. He was the main religious reformer of India.


Death- Kabir died at Maghar in 1510 C.E.
