Tagore’s ideas on education were-

• He believed that childhood was a time of self-learning.

• He was not in favour of the rigid and restricted discipline of schooling system set up by the British. The teacher had to be imaginative, understand the child and help the child.

• The natural desire of a child should be encouraged.

• He felt that creative learning should also be encouraged by a natural environment.
