What are the steps that India has to take to conserve water resources in the country?

Water is the most important resource on earth. All plants, animals and human need water for their survival. We cannot live without water. Water is required by the human body for regulating temperature. It is used for other purposes such as washing cloth, cooking, cleaning etc. The availability of water resources varies over space and time, mainly due to variations in seasonal and annual precipitation. Excessive use and over exploitation causes water scarcity.

Steps that India has to take conserve water resources are:

*Rainwater harvesting is the most important step to conserve water. It is the gathering and collection of water from the rooftop. It is the most effective and simple way to conserve water.

*Building Dams in most of our river basins also helps in conserving and managing the water. The dam is a barrier across flowing water that retards the flow of water. It is built for irrigation, fish breeding and for generating electricity.

*Using of a pipeline also helps in controlling the overuse of water. Pipeline provides an only a limited amount of water.

*Charging money for water usage will bring inbuilt efficiency in water management.
