Why are farmers committing suicides in several states of India?

The financial condition of the farmers is very poor. In order to yield a good quantity and good quality of the product, they have to spend a lot of money on buying crops, land, fertilizers, machinery, pesticides etc. As the days are passing, the subsidy offered by the government on various commodities like fertilizers, crops are reducing. Reduction of import duties on agricultural products has proved detrimental to agriculture. On the other hand, the selling price of the commodities produced by them becomes significantly low due to bumper production. So the farmers become bankrupt and cannot continue their lives further. So they commit suicide.
