How did the First World War help in the growth of the national movement in India?

The First World War began in July 1914 and lasted until November 1918. First World war made a huge impact on the economic and political situation all around the world. The following factors were the main reason for the national movement in India

Due to huge expenditure for the war, the British government started to increase the customs duty and introduced income tax to all the people in India to raise money for their war loans.

Villagers were forced to join the army to support the war crowd

Huge famine due to failure of crops and influenza caused severe hardship among the people

All these factors caused widespread anger among the people against the British government and this led to the beginning of National movements in India.
