What were the factors that led to the rise of nationalism in Europe?

The factors that led to the rise of nationalism in Europewere-

• The decline of Feudalism- In mutual wars, many federal lords died. The Crusaders also impoverished the barons. Federal lords were the major obstacle in the emergence of nationalism.


• The decline in Pope Authority- The church enjoyed supreme power and authority in the middle ages. Renaissance and reformation movement awaken the people and weaken the authority of the Pope and Church.


• Wars- Wars also aroused the feeling of nationalism among the people of both France and England. The Hundred’s year’s War between in the two countries gave rise the feeling of Nationalism.


• Foreign Rule- The foreign rulers suppressed the people and treated them cruelly and mercilessly. This led the people to unite against these foreign power.


• Great writers- Many writers, philosopher’s poets put a great impact to infuse the feelings of nationalism in Europe.
