Q3 of 26 Page 1

State what is a large change in allele frequency in a sample of a new population indicative of?

Allele frequency: refers to how frequently a particular allele appears in a population.

Factors affecting are as follows:

1. Mutation- it adds new genes and alleles in a gene pool. It creates and maintains variation within a population.

2. Genetic drift- it is a random change in frequency of alleles occurring due to chance fluctuation. It effects small population

3. Natural selection- it is process by which better-adapted individuals are favoured by nature from a heterogenous population of less adapted individuals.

4. Gene flow- it is the movement of gene or allele from a population changing gene frequency when migration of a section of the population occurs to another place.
