ABO blood groups are a good examples that show two deviations of Mendelian pattern of inheritance. Write the two deviations seen giving explanation for each.

Mendel stated that for a particular trait there are two alleles but in case of ABO blood group there are multiple alleles for blood group..ABO blood group is controlled by the gene l.Multiple alleles of blood group lA, lB and i. lA and lB are dominant over i, in other words if lA and i are present only lA expresses and hen lB and i are present only lB is expressed. But when lA and lB are present both express their own types of sugars, this is co-dominance.Since there are three alleles , there are six different combinations of these alleles that are possible a total of six different genotypes of the human ABO blood groups.
