Q15 of 30 Page 1

This is the pedigree of a family tracing the movement of the gene for haemophilia. Explain the pattern of inheritance of the disease in the family.

In the given pedigree of a family, a normal female is crossed with a haemophilic male. Haemophilia is an X-linked disease. The offspring are carrier females. These females when crossed with normal males produce carrier females and haemophilic males. The possibility of a female becoming a haemophilic is extremely rare because mother of such a female has to be at least carrier and the father should be haemophilic.
