How does Monarch butterfly defend itself from predators? Explain.

The Monarch butterfly is highly distasteful to its predator (bird) because of a special chemical present in its body. This is how it defends itself from its predator due to presence of these chemicals which they acquire during their caterpillar stage by feeding on a poisonous weed.
