Q6 of 26 Page 1

Name the crystal defect which reduces the density of an ionic solid? What type of ionic

substances show this defect?

In Schottky defect the density of the ionic solid is reduced.

Schottky defect is shown by the type of ionic substances in which the cation and anion are of almost of similar sizes i.e. value of radius differences are less.

Eg. - NaCl, KCl, CsCl and AgBr etc.
