The ratio between the radius of the base and the height of a cylinder is 2 : 3. Find the total surface area of the cylinder, it its volume is 1617 cm3.

Given,

=

Volume of cylinder = 1617 cm3

Let radius = 2x cm and height = 3x cm

So, volume of cylinder = πr2h =

=

= x =

Radius of cylinder = 2x = 2×3.5 = 7 cm

Height of cylinder = 3x = 3×3.5 = 10.5 cm

Hence , total surface area of cylinder = 2πr(h+r) =
