Q2 of 33 Page 18

"First meiotic division is the reduction division".

What does the word 'reduction' refer to in this statement?

In this statement, ‘reduction’ means the number of chromosomes is reduced to half. The gametes (sperm and eggs) are produced as a result of meiosis hence they have a haploid number of chromosomes.
