Single issue movement – A Single issue movement focuses on a single issue that seeks to achieve a single objective within a limited time period. For example – Narmada Bachao Andolan began in response to the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Dam that displaced a no. of people.

Long-term movement – A long-term movement focuses on various aspects and involves more than one issue, unlike single-issue movements. For example – the women’s movement and various environment-related movements that came up in response to the various questions raised in society.

NOTE – A single issue movement is usually guided by a single organization in contrast to a long-term movement which has no single organization that controls or guides these movements.
