Write the structures of the monomers used for getting the following polymers:

(b) Melamine-formaldehyde polymer

(a) Polyvinyl chloride [PVC] –Vinyl chloride [CH2 = CH-CL] is the monomer of the compound Poly-Vinyl Chloride. Is widely used in the manufacturing of raincoats, insulation of electrical wires, toys etc. The reaction is as follows:


(b) The compounds used for this polymer are melamine and formaldehyde and melamine formaldehyde polymer or resin is formed by condensation polymerization. The polymer obtained is a thermosetting polymer and thus is used to make plastic crockery. The structure of these compounds are as follows:



(c) The compounds are as follows:

Acrylonitrile- CH2 = CH - CN
